When it comes to saving money on gas; We all should really take a good look at our day to day driving activities and figure out ways of shaving a few pennies! In the course of a month, those pennies, will add up into dollars!

Planning a vacation or visiting friends for the weekend? You will probably need to use a highway or an interstate. Service stations are convenient! However, because of their convenience, those pump prices will have you over a barrel! So, fill up at the cheapest gas station in your home town, before you leave! If your trip is long and you require a refill along the way; Try and combine your lunch or dinner time, in a town off of the highway, where there are cheaper gas pumps; And cheaper food!

Car pooling? Great idea! Riding a bicycle? Even better for you! Buy a bike that fits in, or on your car; You can park away from the masses and cycle the rest of the way.

Speeding? Bad idea! Not only will you get a ticket, but you'll burn much more gas this way! What's the hurry?

Going to the bank? Do you always use the drive thru'? Switch off your engine whilst you wait! Same with a traffic jam or a trip to a fast food drive thru.

Try not to fill your tank so much that it runs onto the ground! When you finish filling, give the pump hose a tap and a shake; You might be needing that little drop of gas one day! Everything adds up!

Going to the grocery store? Park in the first available place you can. People drive around too much, looking for that right spot! Stock up for the week whilst you're there, this will save you additional trips. Better still; Order on line!

Air conditioning will certainly increase your gas consumption! Try and use it sparingly!

How's rush hour where you live? Does your journey take twice as long, than if you were to drive the same route on the weekend? Consider taking an alternative road! It maybe a longer distance, but who knows how long you'll be sitting in traffic, burning that gas!

Try asking your employer, if a four day work week would work for them? A lot of companies are investing in this strategy, as it has proved more productive. This way, there are two advantages; You save on gas, by not driving to work on the fifth day; And, because you are staying later at work, you'll be missing the rush hour!

Proper tire inflation will make a huge impact on your mileage! A good tune up, will make a tremendous difference! Correct fluid levels will help, as well!

Finally; Your gas mileage all boils down to the type of vehicle you drive! If you must purchase a particular model, consider getting the stick shift version; They are not only cheaper to repair, but they get considerably greater gas mileage than an automatic!
