ALT-13 Why the best Fathers Day Gifts Aren’t the most Expensive

From 3arf

"It's the thought that counts." Those are the words my parents have taught me when it comes to any gift. From the deepest place in your heart and soul should be where the gift you give your Father comes from for Father's Day this year. Touching someones soul will let them know how much you appreciate, and love them much more then anything money can buy.

These simple words never made more sense to me as they do today, and I guess any child really wouldn't understand how true these words are until they have children themselves. I am 32 years old and I do not have children of my own, but what I do have is the most amazing 2 year old niece in the world, who is as close to me as my own daughter would be. I am lucky enough to live in the same house and see her grow everyday, learning new and exciting things, terrorizing everything she can get her hands on, then looking at me with a smile on her face that would just warm up the coldest of winter's days. My niece has no idea now how much she has touched my life and has gotten me through some hard times with that smile. She is a true blessing to me and my entire family.

No gift of monetary value could be worth more to me then having my niece in my life. I imagine that this is what my parents have been trying to tell me all these years. When I think of all the silly gifts I gave as a child I can realize now that they weren't silly at all. They were the most amazing gifts I could have ever given, because while the whole time either shopping, or creating these gifts the one thing in my mind was my Dad. When I handed him these self bought, with my $2 a week allowance, or self made, with my own two little hands, he saw that look on my face. This precious look told him that there is no man who is or ever will be more important to me then him. It is the look that only a child can give to his or her Dad letting him know that is was true love that this gift made it to him.

Now that I have reached this pinnacle in my own life of knowing this amazing feeling of true love a child can give am able able to realize the true love that my dad has given me over the years. I am able to appreciate everything that my Dad has taught, done, and given me through my life and I know without a doubt he feels the same of me. This year for Father's Day skip the usual tie, coffee mug, or hat and give your Father what I am giving mine. That look that only the child can give.
