ALT-12 Motorcyclists should always Wear Helmets – Agree

From 3arf

Of course a motorcyclist should always wear a helmet! Saying they shouldn't is plain ignorance and the person obviously has no experience of crashes involving their head.

A 'lid' as it is more commonly known isn't predominantly intended to look cool and to be quite honest I couldn't care less if people think I don't look 'cool' with a helmet on.

The helmet is a life-saving device, it should be made mandatory in every country that a helmet is worn at all times on a motorcycle. I believe that allowing someone not to wear a helmet, is comparable to that of the law of allowing someone to die.

When a person somehow fails in a suicide attempt the emergency services have to intervene, they have to try to keep the person alive at all costs, and by allowing motorcyclists to ride without a helmet they are guilty of man-slaughter in my book.

The solitary reason for not wearing a helmet is that you want to look cool, but I personally guarantee that if you're involved in a head on collision or any accident that results in your head coming into contact with another object, you WILL come of worse, if you don't believe here's a little experiment you could try out;

Tie your leg to the boot/trunk of your car and get someone to drive whilst your head drags along the floor, and if after 20 yards you have no damage to your head or aren't in pain, fair enough you clearly don't need to wear a helmet, you should be at the circus.

And before you finish reading this I would just like to make it abundantly clear that I have been on a motorcycle, I have rode pillion (passenger)on the back of my father's motorcycle whilst traveling up to speeds in excess of 100mph, if a person were to fall off at those speeds, at the very least they would incur serious injury.

I urge all motorcyclists to wear a helmet in order to prevent serious injury, I'm not moaning but pleading, do it for your own safety.
