Marriage is a necessity that keeps the growth of a community and to keep one in an activity sanctioned by society. Marriage cannot just be a garage to park baby Austins. It is a sacred institution that, it is believed, sanctified by the deities whom we worship. In the Hindu tradition marriage is a ceremony that sometimes lasts for almost five days depending upon the financial capacity and the social status of a person. It is believed and the tradition demands that a man at his attaining the age of manhood has to get married. Relations from both men and women go in search of grooms and brides, thus creating a proper atmosphere to make the wedding impressive and acceptable. Marriage is necessary to foster growth in the family, in other words to reproduce the like in the family.

Remaining as a bachelor may not look natural and people look at a bachelor with suspicion. He may develop tendencies to satisfy his lust by illegitimate connections. That is one of the main reasons that elders put compulsions on the youngsters by inculcating in them the need to marry. If boys don't marry, girls will become burden to families. This will create a social problem. If women go astray there will emerge an erratic society with no ethical values.

Marriage provides companionship for both man and wife to shed off their loneliness. A compatible match is the most desirable. The son of the family would love to see the parents happy when the daughter-in-law arrives at home and becomes their own. The family expands with the addition of a member in the family. This may give the family to rejoice at the occasion when more numbers will join, with the addition of fresh arrival in the family.

There is a chance, the couple may not have any issues which may prove to be a negative factor. But in course of time they get used to seeing them and feeling a sense of bondage to continue family thread giving them the happiness of sharing the legitimate responsibilities. Life doesn't cease when there are no issues to the couple. It is their attitude to life that matters. In the civilized society this doesn't come as a handicap. This doesn't make one get disappointed with their marriage..
