ALT-10 Valentines Day the don’t Panic Guide for Guys

From 3arf

Yes, Valentine's Day is nearly here. Before the marked down Christmas items were even off the shelves the red velvet hearts began to appear right next to the tinsel and lights. Quite frankly, the commercialism is enough to invoke terror upon even the most stalwart. I have never understood just exactly WHY we even NEED a special day to profess our love. I mean, shouldn't you show the one you love and care about how much they mean to you EVERY DAY?! Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a woman who likes gifts! However, if your special lady made a New Year's resolution to lose weight a huge box of chocolates is definitely not the way to go! Besides, it's just so "cliche". If she's made that resolution, how about a membership to the gym or a weekend at a health spa? Then there are the standard red roses that cost an absolute fortune and will wilt within a week. Not exactly a lasting show of devotion. Instead, try giving something unexpected such as an Orchid or a visit to a botanical garden. Now we move on to the most confusing of gift-giving. Yes, I'm talking about jewelry. I, myself, and the majority of my girlfriends much prefer to pick out our own. Besides, this is a dangerous trap! Once you purchase jewelry for Valentine's Day every Valentine's Day to come will kind of be a let down anyway unless you can top that ring, necklace, earrings or bracelet you splurged on! If you absolutely insist on giving jewelry make it small and personalized. Last, but certainly not least, THE CARD! Anyone can pull one off the rack and sign their name. If you're smart, which we women KNOW all men are, you'll do your best to either make one or make the one you buy more "personal". One of the best gifts I've ever received from my husband was a coupon book that he made for me complete with horrible drawings offering such services as breakfast in bed, an hour long massage, etc. Be creative! But remember, this is just ONE DAY! The truest way to your woman's heart is to show her and tell her the other 364 days of the year just how special she is and how much you love her!
