ALT-10 Motorcyclists should always Wear Helmets – Disagree

From 3arf

FREEDOM! This country was founded on freedom. If so and so wants to feel the wind in their hair, have the soothing sensation of wind blowing past their ears, or just simply wants to look cool and impress the opposite sex, why is it any of my business. As well, what gives me the right to make it my business. The whole concept of freedom means any person, no matter how old, has the right to decide for themselves whether or not, if and when they get cut off by an absent-minded car or truck driver, they want their brains scattered across someones' windshield.Better yet, do I or any person have the right to pass laws forcing me against my fought for, by so many ancestors, freedoms in order to prevent the chance of my family and friends not being able to have an open casket at my funeral. Are people not tired of waking up and having their choices made for them by someone who thinks they know what is right for everyone. I know arriving at an accident only to discover the motorcyclist would have lived if he or she would have had the sense to wear a helmet is a tragedy; but hey, as long as you are not the one having to explain to his or her five year old child that mommy or daddy would be alive if only they would have taken the proper precautions why should you care.

Moreover, are the studies and statistics compiled by so-called experts really supposed to be considered as facts. If indeed these studies are to be accepted as fact, why am I still alive? Several years ago I was driving home, in my car, and I was struck head on by a drunk man driving a truck. Although I am permanently affected and it took paramedics 5.5 hours to get me out of my car, if I would have been wearing my seat-belt like all the experts, who know what is good for me, say I should be doing, I would have gotten sawed in half. That is a fact!

Wake up world! People do not have to like or believe in the choices other people make. As long as anothers' choice does not affect you on a personal level it should not be your business to make it your business. So take off that helmet, feel the wind, taste the pavement, and ride on "Hells Angel".
