5 Reasons to Find a new Job
Working can be fun, especially when your job is something you have always dreamed of doing. But, what if your current job isn’t your dream job and is actually an annoying and nerve-wracking nightmare? When your job is causing you to have night sweats, the stress from your current job may be good reason to leave and search for a new job. There are several different valid reasons why you should leave your job and embark on a new career.
Parenting
You might really enjoy your current job, but once you become a parent, your priorities change. Children need to be provided for and it is your job to do that as a parent. If your job is preventing you from being able to spend the quality time with your family that you feel is needed it might be best to find a job that will give you the flexibility to spend time with your loved ones. The cost of childcare can be expensive, especially if you have more than one child that needs watching while you work. A work-from-home job or starting a home-based business might be better options for you if you want to earn money and supervise your children at the same time.
Discomfort
There are too many reasons to list about why you feel uncomfortable at your current job, and the longer you stay there, the more uncomfortable you will feel. Very few people do well at a job that makes them feel uncomfortable because feeling uncomfortable is very distracting, making it difficult to stay focused on a task. Your feelings of discomfort are happening for a reason. Your feelings of discomfort are prompting you to recognize that your job is not ideal for you and you need to make a change as soon as possible. It could be the workplace environment that you don’t enjoy or it could be that you feel you have outgrown your job position or have no interest in the industry. Recognize that your feelings are telling you that it’s time to make a change and pursue a different line of work.
Dishonesty
When you first started your job it might have seemed like a good dream come true; you and your boss got along, your paycheck was decent, and you respected what the company stood for. As time went on, you realized that the company you work for puts on a front of being ethical but the people who work there practice shady business dealings. The more time that you spend continuing to work for an unethical company, the more you risk having your reputation damaged, especially if the general public finds out about your employer’s true nature. Get out while you can before your reputation and career opportunities are still intact.
Money
If the money you earn at your current job is not enough for you to use to cover your living expenses it is necessary for you to get another job. Once you get behind on paying even one of your bills it can be very difficult to bounce back and recover financially. Your job should be helping you to maintain your lifestyle and if your job isn’t able to do that, then your job isn’t doing its job. A better paying job will help you afford your lifestyle and necessities.
Desire to follow your dream
Deep in your heart you know what you enjoy doing and how you would rather be spending your time. Perhaps you enjoy fixing things around the house and you light up at the idea of working as a handyman instead of answering customer service phone calls at a call center. Maybe your dream is to work as an actress instead of processing tickets at the movie theatre. If your current job does not align with what you feel your purpose in life is then it is best to move on from your job before you feel deeply regretful for not moving on sooner.
What you choose to do for a career affects your physical, mental, and spiritual health. Your finances are affected by your career choices too, and your finances directly affect your family’s present and future situations. Don’t base your career choices on what other people are doing. You are unique and your career choices should be based on your desired lifestyle and what makes sense for you. Being open and proactive to making a career change that will help you feel happier will put an end to the stress of working at a job that is no longer an appropriate match for you.
