2006 Hyundai Elantra

From 3arf

While men are more interested in the guts of the vehicle, we women pay close attention to the accessories. Contrary to popular belief, my 2006 Hyundai Elantra happens to be green and I could care less. It was the only color equipped to suit my needs.

Not only are there beverage holders between the split seats, but both front doors have beverage holder capabilities along with narrower spaces for maps, etc. Two trays are convenient to hold American coins in one and Canadian coins in the other, since I am a frequent traveler between both countries. I should add that the one try is supposed to be for cigarette butts. Since I don't smoke, nor do I allow smoking in my vehicle, it has alternate usage for me.

The pick-up in the engine is not as quick as previously owned vehicles, but it is fine for my driving. This prevents me from speeding and contributing to our local government's income. It also saves on gas usage and costs.

During the winter, the interior heater could be heat up quicker and maintain a higher temperature for passenger comfort. Likewise, the air conditioning could cool more quickly. However, it does get plenty cool for the climate.

The clock is super easy to change time in the Spring and the Fall. Rear window defroster works quickly. My side view mirrors are heated but could melt snow and ice a bit faster.

Trunk space could be deeper for easier of furniture, boxes, etc. The sloped trunk door takes away too much usable space. Placing the extra wheel and tire changing equipment under the trunk's floor adds to the space volume. The ability to reach into the trunk from the back seat is convenient, as is the drop-down back seats to allow for transporting long items.

Interior map lights are perfectly placed for reading maps or anything else and they do not interfere with driving visibility. Child safety locks on the doors are reassuring and convenient, as is the driver's ability to lock and unlock all windows.

An additional pull-down section on the window's sun visors would be welcomed during sunny driving. And, speaking of windows, the shape of the windows tends to let rain or snow drip in when the window is opened slightly.

Gas mileage is adequate. I get approximately 24-27 miles per gallon in city driving and closer to 30 miles per gallon on the highway. Less open window traveling and slower driving speeds contribute to the higher mileage per gallon.

Seats are comfortable for the vehicle's purchase price. Storage pockets on the front seat backs keep clutter from accumulating on the back seats. I wish the steering wheel had more flexibility in adjustments.

Whether it was for non-English speaking individuals, women or what, I am grateful for the pictures on the items under the hood. Adding window washer fluid is easy due to the placement of the tank and the picture on the cap.

In all, I am very satisfied with my purchase of this vehicle.
